Treatment for Fear of Crowds (Demophobia)
at the Huddersfield and Manchester Hypnotherapy Clinic

Huddersfield Hypnotherapy Clinic can help you overcome the fear of crowds

Demophobia is a form of anxiety expression that manifests itself as a fear of crowds.

The fear experienced is far more than just a mere concern or worry and can approximate to the kind of fear that all people are capable of experiencing in response to situations of danger (such as stepping into the road and being faced by an oncoming car).

Each person who suffers from this phobia will be affected by it in a different way. One person affected may experience symptoms at just the thought of crowds or may experience symptoms when he or she hears someone talking about crowds, whereas another person may experience symptoms when he or she is having some other sensory experience to do with crowds.

In general terms, phobic symptoms occur when the subject matter of the phobia is presented to the sufferer in any number of ways, and the ways in which these affect the phobic person will be unique to each sufferer, however, all sufferers of this phobia and all other phobias do share very similar symptoms. These symptoms can include:

  • a feeling of inner anxiety.
  • gasping for air/shortness of breath.
  • a feeling that the world is collapsing in on them.
  • a feeling of being trapped with nowhere to go.
  • increased or irregular heartbeat.
  • sweating.
  • a feeling of sheer dread.
